Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Detective Kevin Kirkland has joined an elite group of law enforcement professionals in the state, after graduating from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s State Academy – Leadership Development Experience.

Detective Kirkland has been with the LCSO since 2013 and has held numerous positions within the agency. His positions include Corrections Deputy, Corrections Corporal, Patrol Deputy, School Resource Officer and currently Sergeant Detective within the Criminal Investigations Division.

During the four-week program, the 12 participants discussed a variety of skills, including self-awareness concepts, leadership development, peer support, family support, resiliency, legal aspects, progressive discipline, critical incident leadership, team building, team dynamics, media relations, budgeting, and grant writing.

“I am extremely proud of Detective Kirkland on this great accomplishment” said Sheriff Jimmy Davis. “I believe it is our job as leaders to invest in our people and inspire them to be the best version of themselves that they can be. Kirkland is invested in our organization and we are proud to have him on our team and look forward to seeing the skills he can bring back from this great leadership academy.”

Additionally, during the academy, the students were required to write APA-style research papers, give public speaking presentations, and work on group research projects designed to force them out of their comfort zones and enhance their leadership skills and abilities working within a team.

Congratulations Sergeant Detective Kirkland on this phenomenal achievement!
