We are excited to announce that we have installed two brand new radar speed signs in Downtown Greenback. The signs are located on Morganton Road near Greenback School and Highway 95 near Calhoun Drive. These signs were fully paid for utilizing grant funds through the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
The signs will hopefully address the rising speed problems in the downtown Greenback area. The speed signs continually collect and track speed data to help enable the agency to be able to better reduce speeding in the area.
“We have seen an increase in traffic in the downtown Greenback area and with that comes an increase in the number of cars that drive over the speed limit” said Sheriff Jimmy Davis. “Mayor Birchfield and I have spoke many times about ways to address the speeding problem in Greenback. These signs will hopefully help in slowing down traffic. I am thankful that we were able to get these signs and look forward to seeing how effective they will be.”
The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office receives a $30,000 grant from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office annually. This money is used to purchase traffic related equipment as well as pay for Overtime for deputies to conduct traffic enforcement throughout Loudon County.
A special thank you to the Loudon County Highway Department for help installing the signs.
